Repeat Prescriptions
Repeat prescriptions are issued at the doctor's discretion and are normally for patients on long-term treatment. They are generated either manually or by computer print-out slips each time new medication is prescribed.
Local pharmacies will often collect prescriptions from the surgery on behalf of the patient, prepare the medication and have it ready for collection by the patient. Some pharmacies will deliver to the homes of the housebound, disabled or elderly patients.
It is usually a simple arrangement to join the practice's repeat prescription service, with, of course, the doctor's approval. The patient has to fill in a form authorising the pharmacist to collect prescriptions from the surgery. This form is held by the surgery's administration office and is valid until such time as the doctor needs to review the patient's medication.
Requests for repeat prescriptions are accepted by post (an SAE is required if you need the prescription posted back to you), via the form on this website and by personal visits to the surgery where the request must be in writing. The surgery does not accept requests for repeat prescriptions by telephone. Please note that we need at least two working days' notice for repeat prescriptions.
